"Volga" -2020 - to be. Representatives of the Gorky Automobile Plant confirmed information on the release of a new sedan. Marketing Director Vasily Kostochkin explained to reporters that the release is resuming as part of import substitution - the state supports and finances interesting initiatives by domestic manufacturers. The legendary GAZ was no exception.

The 2019-2020 model is known as the "director Volga", its official name is GAZ-3102. The manufacturer plans - small-scale assembly of a car. We are not talking about mass production yet.

Exterior

The design of the new Volga in 2020 was developed by specialists from the Cardi studio in Russia. The result was an ambiguous, but interesting project. It is ambiguous because there were no radical changes in the exterior and filling.

It is known that the Volga 2020 will be produced with an old body. It is extended by 20.2 cm in front, with a long overhang and low clearance. This design is part of the passive safety of the vehicle, preventing the ingress of rubble and splash of dirt into the windshield. The fuel tank is located behind the rear seat - in the space least vulnerable to collisions between two cars. The concept inherited all these elements from its predecessors in 2007.

Some new elements have also appeared in the exterior. The model will have other bumpers, LED headlights and lights. Instead of a chrome grille, a one-piece stamped plastic will be installed. In general, automotive experts note that the car will look more modern and interesting than its predecessor.

Interior

Manufacturers have not yet presented a photo of the new Volga -2020. According to the representatives of the Gorky plant, it will not fundamentally differ from the interior of the classic GAZ-3102. At the same time, it was decided to partially unify the interior with the GAZelle-NEXT interior. This is done for the sake of cheapening the cost.

In the classic version of the GAZ-3102, the instrument panel was made of foamed polyurethane and equipped with a safety cover. In the design of the panel, it was not wood that was used, but its imitation.

All chairs are orthopedic, superior, designed for long trips. The front seats have head restraints. Designers improved thermal and noise insulation of the cabin.

Specifications

Specifications, as well as a photo of the new Volga 2020 model, are the intrigue of the year. According to preliminary data, it will be equipped with a manual gearbox.

It is also known that the car is planned to be released in several trim levels. The announced price of the model in the minimum configuration is 800 thousand rubles. This version does not provide air conditioning in the cabin, the windows on the rear doors do not fall, the guarantee for the body is not given.

The intrigue is that private individuals will be able to purchase a novelty by special permission - such an innovation, the manufacturers decided to warm up consumer interest, recreate the Soviet halo of elitism and excitement around the famous passenger car.

The purchase queue is not excluded, given the planned small-scale production. But this will happen on the condition that the number of people wishing to acquire the Russian restyled Volga will be in the thousands.

5000 GL

Body

The new Volga 2020, presented in the photographs, is somewhat similar to Genesis and Mercedes-Benz. An elongated body, good streamlining - only a small part of its advantages. Among other features of the domestic sedan, observers of automobile magazines distinguish:

  • improved brake discs.

Interior

Car market experts believe the new sedan will have:

  • Salon, designed for 5 seats;
  • ergonomic driver and passenger seats;

  • intellectual assistant.

Smooth lines will prevail in the interior design. Modern video cameras that display rear-view images and so-called “blind spots” on a monitor in front of the driver will help improve visibility.

Specifications

There is a possibility of a hybrid car equipped with an electric and gasoline engine. In the case of its implementation, the Volga will become one of the most economical models on the market: fuel consumption will be reduced to 4 l / 100 km.

The Volga will be equipped with a 3.2-liter engine with a capacity of 296 hp, a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Release date

The domestic model ideally matches the needs and expectations of consumers, could compete with German, Korean and Chinese cars.

Rumors about the launch of the concept on the conveyor appear every year, but so far it has not come to this. According to unconfirmed information, the new model can go into mass production in 2020.

Approximately its cost for retail customers will amount to almost 8 million rubles.

Dream concept

There was another project that caused an unprecedented stir in the network. Alexander Shtorm, a graphic designer from Kazan, developed it and registered it on the Behance website. This concept reflected his vision of the domestic sedan: it resembled Chrysler, Infiniti and other prestigious foreign cars.

There are many copyright concepts on the Internet that have nothing to do with the official plans of the manufacturer. But for some reason, users appreciated the option presented by the Kazan designer, actively involved in its discussion. Why? Perhaps he combined in his Volga what the Russian consumer unconsciously wants.

Story

  • GAZ-3102 is classified as a middle class car. It was produced in the Soviet Union, and then in Russia from December 1981 to November 2008.
  • The model was conceived as the successor to the famous 24th Volga, but became the official transport of the heads of research institutes, directors of enterprises, senior military officials and other representatives of the nomenclature, who were supposed to have a higher level of comfort and safety than conventional cars.
  • The car was produced in small batches - not more than 3 thousand units per year. Mass demand formed in the 2000s - by that time it had already gained a reputation as a "director".
  • In parallel, designers developed other models. As a result, 3102 was removed from the conveyor.
